PowerPool

PowerPool App Preferences

The PowerPool App has four tabs within the preference window, which are used to select user preferences. The tabs are as follows:

Polling

The first tab allows the user to define if the application automatically "scrapes" the Syestem Marginal Price (SMP price) upon startup as well as if it should refresh continuously. The Auto refresh frequency can be set from 5 minutes to 2.5 hours using the slider.

Display

The SMP price can be displayed in either ¢/kWh or $/MWh.
The application also utilizes Growl (see http://www.growl.info) to notify the user of events such as when a poll or error has occured, and if the SMP price is above the thresholds set in the Sound Preference's listed next.

Updates

The Sparkle framework may be used to automatically check the PowerPool App website to ensure that the most current version of the application is being used. If a newer version is available, then it is downloaded and installed. Optionally, to assist the programmer, computer information may be shared to help with further application development.

Notifications

The application notifies the user when events occur using the notification system built in to the operating system. Additionally, the notifications can have sounds that accompany the notification, which may be selected. All of the sounds that are available for selection are located in the systems sound directory, which is located: computer/System/Library/Sounds/...
